This is exactly why Hario introduced the Hario V60 Drip Assist—a smart accessory that simplifies the pouring process while still ensuring exceptional extraction quality. No need for a specialized gooseneck kettle—you can still achieve high-quality, consistent pour-over results.
Hario V60 Drip Assist
The Hario V60 Drip Assist is a collaboration between Hario and Pete Licata, the 2013 World Barista Champion. Its shape resembles the shower head of an automatic drip coffee machine. Its function is to evenly distribute water over the coffee grounds, allowing for more controlled and consistent brewing.
The Hario V60 Drip Assist features two types of water flow patterns, helping you control various stages of the brewing process and ultimately achieve excellent results.

The inner water tray acts as a fast-flow chamber, transforming the incoming water into three thin streams concentrated in the center.

The outer water tray covers a larger surface area and breaks the water down into smaller, slower-flowing droplets, ideal for gentle saturation.
How to brew pour-over with the Hario V60 Drip Assist

For 18–24g of ground coffee, use 300–400ml of water at 92°C. Start by pouring 50–70ml of hot water into the inner tray (blooming), then pour the remaining hot water into the outer tray, letting the water drip slowly through the holes in the middle tray.

For 25–30g of ground coffee, use 400–500ml of water at 92°C. After pouring 70–85ml into the inner tray for blooming, fill the outer ring, pause halfway through to let the water drain, then repeat until the desired volume is reached.
