During the first stage, the coffee grounds are fully immersed in hot water, allowing aromatic compounds, natural sugars, and organic acids to dissolve evenly. Once pressure is applied, the water passes uniformly through the coffee bed, improving extraction efficiency while minimizing channeling.

The result is a cup with a fuller body than pour-over coffee, greater clarity than French Press, and an excellent balance of sweetness, acidity, and lingering finish. This brewing profile is especially well suited for medium and light roast coffees, highlighting their complex flavor notes while preserving natural sweetness.

Duck Valve System – Precise Flow Control

How to Brew with the Wacaco Prestina

1. Add approximately 15 g of medium-ground coffee to the brewing chamber.
2. Pour 240 ml of hot water at around 90°C (194°F).
3. Stir gently to fully saturate the coffee grounds.
4. Allow the coffee to steep for 1 minute.
5. Place the cup on top and press down evenly to complete the extraction.
