Description
MOKA COLBRO – The Solution to “Overheating”
Inheriting the legacy of classic Moka pots, MOKA COLBRO has been researched and developed by coffee enthusiasts, bringing a fresh innovation to this manual brewing method. A bold decision was made to use 316 stainless steel (a premium stainless steel widely used in industries requiring superior corrosion resistance). Additionally, the inclusion of a stainless-steel measuring cup placed at the bottom of the pot is a perfect solution that allows the Moka Colbro to optimize its performance and prevent overheating during the brewing process.
Triple-Valve Extraction System
The 3-valve extraction system of the Moka Colbro is a unique feature that ensures more stable coffee extraction, produces more crema, and provides better safety compared to traditional Moka pots:
-
Main Pressure Valve: This valve uses compression to push hot water from the lower chamber through the coffee grounds. It creates higher pressure than traditional Moka pots, resulting in more stable extraction, consistent pressure, increased crema, and better flavor retention.
-
Extraction Booster Valve: Made from CNC-machined 304 stainless steel, this valve is located at the neck or midsection of the pot. It creates a gentle vortex flow as water rises, ensuring even water-coffee contact, producing smoother flavors, and minimizing over-extraction or residue buildup.
-
Safety Valve: A mechanical valve located in the lower water chamber, it releases excess pressure when it exceeds a safe limit (usually above 2 bar). This protects users from the risk of explosion or overflow when the pot is clogged or improperly assembled.
Valuable Upgrade: Water Tube & Filter Basket
The filter basket of the Moka Colbro is made from 316 stainless steel, ensuring food safety and high heat resistance. The water tube leading to the coffee basket is designed to be ultra-narrow, limiting the amount of water passing through, thereby increasing natural pressure from the bottom to the top chamber. Higher pressure results in a more intense extraction, a thicker crema, and an espresso-like experience.
The narrow tube also controls the flow rate of hot water through the coffee grounds, ensuring even extraction and reducing the risk of over- or under-extraction.
The narrow path also retains heat better, preventing significant temperature loss and avoiding boiling over or splashing during brewing.
The ultra-fine filter screen, precision-punched using CNC technology, ensures thorough and consistent filtration. It withstands high heat and pressure without deforming, even after multiple brews.
The Nob has tested this product, and the Moka Colbro truly stands out as a comprehensive Moka coffee solution for 2025. If you want to upgrade your Moka experience without investing in an espresso machine, Colbro is a top-tier choice – stylish, powerful, and capable of delivering a perfectly extracted cup of coffee.
How to Brew Coffee with the MOKA COLBRO
Step 1: Disassemble the pot. Fill the lower chamber with clean water, making sure it does not exceed the safety valve. It is recommended to use hot water around 80–90°C.
Step 2: Add ground coffee into the filter funnel and level it off. You can lightly tamp the coffee for a richer espresso-like taste (note: do not tamp too tightly or steam will struggle to pass through).
Step 3: Assemble the pot securely to prevent steam from escaping and reducing pressure.
Step 4: Place the pot on the stove and set the heat to low or medium.
Step 5: Allow steam to push through the coffee and rise into the top chamber. Keep an eye on the coffee level to avoid overflow. This process takes about 2–3 minutes. If it takes too long, slightly increase the heat on your next brew.
Step 6: When the coffee level is close to the top, remove the pot from the stove. Pour into a cup and enjoy. Add sugar or milk to taste.
Notes When Using the MOKA COLBRO
-
Use pure water (filtered or bottled, not mineral water) to preserve the authentic coffee flavor.
-
During brewing, the coffee and the pot’s metal body become very hot. Always handle the pot using its handle or a pot holder to avoid burns.
