Description
Considered a comprehensive upgrade to the legendary Black Mirror digital scale lineup, the Timemore Basic 3 not only improves accuracy but also optimizes design, response speed, and overall user experience for both professional Espresso and Pour Over brewing.
Featuring a minimalist yet premium design
TIMEMORE has long been recognized for its minimalist and modern design philosophy, and the Timemore Basic 3 continues to uphold this approach. The scale is made from high-quality plastic with a slim 2 cm profile and modern square-edged corners. Its upper surface features a completely flat finish without any physical buttons.
The scale is lightweight, weighing only around 300 g, making it approximately 25% lighter and 10% more compact than the Timemore Basic 2. This allows it to fit more conveniently on the drip tray of espresso machines. In addition, the device is equipped with a stronger electromagnetic shielding layer inside, enabling more stable measurements and reducing the annoying issue of fluctuating readings.
One of the most notable improvements on the Basic 3 is the Multifunction Slider system. With this sliding control, users can power the device on or off and switch between different modes using a single slider, making operation more intuitive, reducing accidental presses, and allowing faster mode switching.
Three smart brewing modes.
The Timemore Basic 3 supports up to three separate operating modes. Users can easily switch between modes using the sliding button located on the side of the device.
1. REGULAR MODE
Designed for regular weighing purposes such as measuring coffee beans or ground coffee. The timer is operated manually. This mode is simple, easy to use, and beginner-friendly, making it suitable for a wide range of users.
2. POUR OVER MODE
This mode is optimized for pour-over brewing methods such as V60, Origami, Kalita, and Chemex, featuring several outstanding functions.
In particular, the ratio display function allows users to monitor and control the brewing recipe much more easily. This is an extremely useful feature for both beginners and professional baristas.
3. ESPRESSO MODE
This is one of the upgrades most highly appreciated by the coffee community on the Basic 3. When Espresso Mode is activated, the Timemore Basic 3 automatically tares as soon as a cup is placed on the scale. The timer starts automatically when the espresso begins flowing into the cup, while the scale simultaneously tracks the beverage weight in real time.
This mode enables baristas to focus more on extraction results without the need for continuous manual operation.
1200 mAh Rechargeable Battery
Instead of using replaceable batteries, the Timemore Basic 3 is equipped with a 1600 mAh rechargeable battery that can be charged via a Type-C port, allowing the scale to operate continuously for up to 24 hours. The high-capacity battery supports approximately 280 pour-over brews on a single charge, while a full recharge takes around 3.5 hours.
IPX3 Water Resistance
In a café bar environment or during daily brewing, splashes of water or coffee are almost unavoidable. The Timemore Basic 3 features an IPX3 water-resistance rating, helping to minimize damage from water splashes and improve the durability of the device, giving users greater confidence during use.
In addition, the Timemore Basic 3 comes with a newly designed wrap-around silicone mat that provides better protection and a more secure grip on the weighing surface. The mat also offers anti-slip performance and includes smart drainage grooves for improved practicality.
